Representative Fetterman Misrepresents His Record

Representative Fetterman “portrays himself as a champion of ordinary Floridians fighting against powerful special interest in the state capital”. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.

In 2009 and 2010 Fetterman had an opportunity to be a champion of Floridians and stand up to special interest groups that hire illegal workers and he chose not to. He was asked by Floridians for Immigration Enforcement, www.flimen.org to sponsor mandatory E-Verify legislation, he refused. Our proposed bill, the Florida Citizens Employment Protection Act would have ended employment opportunities for illegal immigrants in Florida. This legislation was enacted in Arizona several years ago and within 18 months one third of their illegal alien population self deported, opening up tens of thousands of jobs for Arizona‘s legal workers.

Refusal to sponsor legislation that would have protected the legal businesses and workers in his district demonstrates that he is not the candidate that cares about putting Floridians back to work. There are really only two sides to this issue, he could either support the hiring of citizens and legal workers or support the hiring of illegal immigrants, and he choose the latter. Even more troubling is that Fetterman is an attorney and took an oath to uphold the rule of law. Apparently Fetterman is OK with the status quo of businesses openly violating the law to the detriment of legal businesses and workers. Fetterman is now asking voters in his district to hire him for a job when he wouldn’t stand up and protect our jobs. I think the voters of District 81 should say no to Fetterman’s request to be hired for another term by casting their vote for Gayle Harrell. The letters to Representative Fetterman follow.
