Since
December 1, 2007 many concerned citizens have
sacrificed their Saturday mornings to join the
protests for the sake of their country. The
original protests on December 1-2, 2007 were to
protest the distribution of Guatemalan Consular ID
cards by the Mobile Guatemalan Consulate. Next
to the Guatemalan Consulate table, Bank of
(Anti-)America had a table where they distributed
donuts and applications for a US bank accounts.
City governments within our US democracy are supposed
to obey federal law and represent the interests of
their constituents. Yet the elected officials of
Jupiter Florida are committing
federal felonies and
state misdemeanors through the official
sanctioning of the illegal hiring between
illegal foreign workers and illegal employers, to the
detriment of citizens and immigrants (legal by
definition).

Because of
our sign to honk, the honking sounds are
signs of support. Although there were
numerous one finger salutes and trash tossed
at the protesters, it is clear that citizens
overwhelmingly support our position of
immigration enforcement.
At no time
did the protesters direct "their
anger at the Guatemalan immigrants, the
consular staff and El Sol's volunteers"
as alleged by Dr. Tim Steigenga, board member
of Corn Maya.

Throughout the protests
many people, some no doubt associated
with the center, freely passed by the
protesters unmolested. At 12 seconds into the
Jupiter Protest Video on December 9,
2007 you can briefly see this lady
and two children approaching the
protesters who are directing their
protest to passing cars. It is
not known whether the lady is
a associated with the center or is a
Guatemalan immigrant but she could be. The
threesome were not associated with the
protest group. Does the
lady appear frightened by the
protesters who are directing
"their anger at the Guatemalan
immigrants, the consular staff and El
Sol's volunteers" as alleged by Dr.
Steigenga? |
The focus
of the protests has been to:
-
symbolize Jupiter as representative of what
is wrong with our government,
- enthuse
citizens to join the protests,
- demand
accurate reporting by the media,
- document
El Sol illegal hiring transactions, and
- most
importantly, demand elected officials
enforce the law.
