Talking Points;

SB 168 ensures that localities are not returning criminal aliens back onto Florida’s streets to prey on the community. In addition to protecting public safety, it will lower the costs to Florida taxpayers, who are currently spending $6.29 billion annually on expenses resulting from illegal immigration.

Tell the Committee members to support SB 168 and not bow to the pressure being applied by those who turn a blind eye to the public safety threats posed by sanctuary laws and believe criminal aliens deserve more protections than law-abiding Floridians:

  • Local law enforcement officers are on the front lines when dealing with crime associated with illegal immigration, including drug- and gang- related crimes. Sanctuary practices result in dangerous criminal aliens being released back onto the streets instead of being removed.
  • Allowing sanctuary practices will only increase illegal immigration to Florida.

The Anti-Sanctuary bill SB168 was heard by the Florida Senate Judiciary Committee on February 11, 2019.  Rather than a sober intelligent discussion of the issue, the hearing was dominated by opponents, many who were underage and non-US citizens espousing largely emotional untruths.  Due to the large number speakers, testimony time was limited to one minute.  Much time was spent too on Senator Gruter’s absence and 23 amendments, 19/23 filed by Democratic Vice-chair Rodriquez.

Here are photos of some of those who testified;

When opponents to immigration enforcement essentially have only the sympathy factor to testify with, how bankrupt are their arguments?
